MIKKO VESTERINEN
Doctoral Researcher in Urban Politics,
football nerd and eternal optimist.
Candidate for Helsinki City Council 2025
Vote me for number 821.
I am standing for the election because I am frustrated with the current contentious and narrow-minded politics. I want Helsinki to be a greener, more attractive and more cozy place to live. I want Helsinki that lasts from generation to generation.
My background is in urban studies. My dissertation focuses on the conflicts of urban development in the cities of Helsinki, Tampere and Oulu. I have also previously served as a councillor in the city of Järvenpää. Now, I would like to give my expertise to common work in the Helsinki City Council for the residents of my home city. My political goal is Helsinki where every neighbourhood is the best place to live. My city election theme to strengthen the love of neighbourhoods:
1
I promise to protect the nature and the history of Helsinki
2
I promise to develop the sustainable daily life and the flexible transport in Helsinki
3
I want more opportunities and care for all residents of Helsinki.
Here in my website you can read my blog and more about my theme in the city elections of 2025. Unfortunately, most of the blog posts are in Finnish. However, you are always more than welcome to send me messages about the elections or other things you want to discuss.
You can also support my path to the Helsinki City Council to donate for my campaign from here.

Many people in Helsinki are worried about the future of their local nature and
their well-being of daily lives.
Helsinki needs more neighbourhood love, where everyday services and nature are close to home.
